Dear Parishioners,
I continue to relish the presence of the VBS campers on our campus last week. It's a blessing to have over 350 children, parents, volunteers, staff, and many others spend such quality time together, learning, playing, and praying together from Monday through Friday. Recall that the organizers spent some days in prayer, at Mass to prepare for the event. This is part of grassroot evangelization. We learn together as we accompany each other as Missionary disciples. We share our faith, practice some virtues, and grow together. It was a week filled with fun and energy. One has to be fit to keep up with these kids! I must admit that they sneaked in a quick one on Fr. Juan, and I. On Friday, I thought I was just going to offer a closing prayer to bring the week to an end. Hardly did I anticipate that they had staged singing and dancing together. Before, I knew what was going on, they ushered in Fr. Juan. Frankly, I felt trapped, but I wasn't going to disappoint the kids! However, a Good Samaritan came to my aid, as I had to mimic his moves and steps to follow the dance beat. Another good thing was that I had good breakfast before coming to the office that morning. I'm so proud of all who supported our children to have such wonderful time!

I mentioned last week that the Ordinary Time of our liturgical season is not ordinary at all. Some of the most sublime and fundamental solemnities of our faith are celebrated within this period. This past week, we celebrated mystery of the Most Holy Trinity which guides us to affirm the communion of love in God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is to this origin, identity, and vocation that Christians belong.
This week, we gather to celebrate Corpus Christi, the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Corpus Christi is Latin for the “Body of Christ.” The liturgical reforms of the Vatican II place the feast of the Corpus Christi on the Sunday following the most Holy Trinity. At its core, the solemnity is a celebration of the Tradition and belief in the Eucharist as the Real Presence of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This solemnity celebrates the core of our belief and the constant reality of Christ's Presence in the church. At every Mass, we celebrate Jesus's one sacrifice at Calvary made sacramentally present and offered anew for the forgiveness of sins we daily commit (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1366). The last Supper marks the institution of the Eucharist, in which Jesus gave himself as spiritual food, the celebration at Mass offers us opportunity to honor and adore Eucharistic Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus didn’t hand out bibles at the last supper, he gave himself—body, blood, soul and divinity. St John eloquently affirms that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son (Jn 3:16).

The New Covenant is rooted in the generosity of the Son of God, and the giving of his very self.
